Background
I am an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Exeter. Research
My PhD in Theology (Exeter, 2003) developed a framework for thinking about Christian theology through the lens of C.S. Perice’s semiotics (the philosophy of signs). I continue to pursue this work in the context of the relationship between semiotics and the origins of life. Recently I have been thinking about how this may all fit with Lacan’s psychoanalytic concepts of the Imaginary, the Symbolic and the Real. As a separate project, taking a semiotic perspective on Luke’s gospel has resulted in me contributing some thinking on the Synoptic Problem.
